Community Service
Rotary works hard to make a difference.
Here are just a few of the important differences our members have created among our nā hoalauna (neighbors) and around the mokupuni (island).
Highway Cleanups
Once a quarter our lala hui (club members) get together to help keep our patch of Maui uʻi (beautiful) by cleaning up ʻōpala (trash) and debris from a stretch of Kula Highway.
Annual Treecycle
Everyone loves their Christmas trees. But what to do with them when the holiday season is over? We collect Christmas trees from Upcountry homes and chip them into mulch, which we offer to poe mahiai (farmers) and nā hoalauna (neighbors).
Food Drives
One of the most important aspects of community service is helping those in need. We are always glad to help the Maui Food Bank by holding a food drive at one of our local supermarkets. Other Rotary Clubs throughout Maui also do food drives in their neighborhoods. We raise hundreds of dollars and collect hundreds of pounds of food for Maui kamaaina (residents) who are going though challenging times.
