For this special general meeting, the Rotary Club of Upcountry Maui is stepping outside our standard meeting room for a "Rotary on the Road" field trip to Moku Roots. Moku Roots is a dedicated zero-waste, plant-based farm-to-table destination in upper Kula focused on sustainable agriculture and environmental stewardship. Attendees will tour the property and learn about their eco-friendly operations supporting Maui's local food system. Following the tour, stick around for an optional farm-to-table brunch. Brunch is highly recommended to experience their fresh local culinary offerings, with a suggested donation of $45. We are honored to feature guest speaker Amelia Stansell, Past District Governor for Rotary District 7610 (Virginia), Vice Chair of the Rotary Action Group Against Slavery (RAGAS) Global Board of Directors, and owner of Unstoppable Futures. In 2018, Amelia co-founded the Fauquier Anti Sex Trafficking Alliance (FASTA) to protect communities through awareness, prevention education, and survivor support. Partnering with organizations like the FBI, Homeland Security, and the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, she leads vital Community Conversations on human trafficking prevention. Join us to hear her insights on how grassroots education and global Rotary networks come together to protect our communities. Join our club for a morning of meaningful community service as we partner with Maui Food Bank to collect donations from shoppers and help fight hunger across Maui County. This is one of our favorite annual traditions—standing at the entrance of Safeway, greeting neighbors with aloha, and watching our community come together to support those in need. About the Impact: Maui Food Bank is our county's primary safety net for hunger relief, distributing over 8 million pounds of safe, nutritious food each year through a network of 100+ partner agencies. They serve 10,000 people monthly who are food insecure—40% of whom are children and youth. Every $1 donated provides 4 meals to someone in our island community, reaching families, keiki, seniors on fixed incomes, and residents in rural areas like Hana, Molokai, and Lanai. What You'll Do: Greet shoppers with a smile and share information about Maui Food Bank's mission Why It Matters: This food drive embodies our Rotary motto of "Service Above Self." Together, we're ensuring that no one in our community goes hungry—from our keiki to our kupuna, from Upcountry to our most remote areas. The Rotary Club of Upcountry Maui is excited to participate once again in the Pukalani Community Association’s 8th Annual Holiday Fair and Electric Golf Cart Parade at the Pukalani Country Club! This family-friendly, free community event brings neighbors together for delicious food, hot chocolate, keiki activities, a special visit from Santa, and the evening's main highlight—the decorated electric golf cart parade. Our club will be sponsoring and entering a golf cart, and we need your creative touch to help us "bling" it out in full holiday style! Event & Volunteer Schedule Date: Saturday, December 5 Decorating & Prep (Volunteers Needed): 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM (Even if you can only lend a hand for an hour, your help is greatly appreciated!)
