Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA): Empowering Young Leaders

Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA), a leadership training and development program designed for high school students.

At the Rotary Club of Upcountry Maui, we're passionate about developing the next generation of leaders. One of the most impactful ways we do this is through the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) program, an intensive leadership training and development experience designed specifically for high school students.

What is RYLA?

RYLA Hawaii is an exciting program hosted by Rotary International's District 5000 Rotary Clubs (Hawaii Rotary). It brings together high school students from across our beautiful islands for an immersive weekend of growth and discovery. The program encourages participants to think deeply about leadership principles and how to apply them in their daily lives.

 

During the RYLA weekend, students engage in a broad range of activities, including:

  • Interactive games
  • Dynamic discussions
  • Engaging workshops

Guided by experienced Adult Alaka'i (Rotary Facilitators) and student Youth Facilitators, participants explore various leadership topics that resonate with their experiences. The goal is to empower and challenge students to become proactive, effective leaders within their schools and communities.

Our Club's Commitment to RYLA

The Rotary Club of Upcountry Maui is proud to sponsor deserving students from our local high schools to attend RYLA. We believe so strongly in the transformative power of this program that the entire RYLA weekend experience is FREE for accepted participants, with costs covered by our local Rotary club. This ensures financial barriers never prevent a promising young leader from accessing this incredible opportunity.
